Skins and walls from Ron Meijer
Ok listen up all.

I find this really dissapointing.
If I upload a skin I want it to be judged on its qualities and NOT on me.

What did I do wrong? Tell me please? I was a regular here, had the time of my live on this site with its great people but seriously, what the fuck are you guys trying to do? get the fun out of skinning for me?

Skindicate?
Dangeruss and treetog? Dangeruss was ok with it... treetog wasn't,
WHEN I SENDED TREETOG ANOTHER EMAIL ABOUT THE SUBJECT HE DIDN'T FIND IT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO ANSWER IT

In that case, I will just decide on my own.
They have never done any commercial thing. You wouldn't hear me complaining if somebody would start using styl skinner as its busines. And then that name has been an active username of me and their name is only.... A NAME.
They aren't active with it anymore, have no copyrights on it, have no trademarks on it... well, too bad then.

OK so this is what I am trying to say:
I love wincustomize, its a great site with great people. I know some of you don't agree with me but can we please act normal so I can atleast share my work here.... or do I have to go over to DA and just leave WC allone? Tell me, because if I stay I do want a little bit of respect and not every skin I upload to get a -2.

And how the hell can somebody go from Master Apprentice to Apprentice? explain that too please.

Let it go. Styl's absurdity has been tested over and over. Now people are being fools for his entertainment. What other purpose could this thread possibly serve? All of his whines have been easily proved wrong, ficticous, or malicious.

The skin is an embarrassment. For him to think it is a good skin is rediculous. He has been around long enough to know better.

He also knows/knew just how the community would respond to the name skindicate. Don't be the fool and play into the game.

Besides, THERE IS NO WAY THAT TGT SOFT HIRED HIM TO MAKE THAT SKIN. Would you pay for it? Even when finished its not even close to "premium" quality.

"Yeah, you might be right on that one sput but I just don't think that I couldn't order the domain name skindicate.com because there was 1 single suite released under that name in the year 2001."

Styl Skinner: The Polymer suite was not just one single suite. It was the first mega suite ever made. It was the most popular suite ever made. It took all the first spots of Skins.org for around 2 weeks, breaking all download records till the end of Skins.org. Nobody never did something similar till today. That suite have ORIGINAL skins for over 35 different applications. Over one thousand hours of very hard were spent on that suite, 3 overall screenshot must be made to be able to present all the skins to the public. Something that I am very proud of it, so please don't try to make it look pathetic, because it is not!

As i told you in my reply to you, The Skindicate name was originaly created just for that suite, by Dangeruss and me.

I will not try to block or fight you if you continue with this idea, so do what you want. I will be just sorry. Again, as I told you in my reply, since in your business, creativity is your product, I am wondering what you will offer to your clients, if even the name you choose for your company is not original.

Since you are posting all your opinions about that on this thread, I decided to reply you here too.

From the first thread that Essencay linked. Read it again...and again...and again...until it sinks in.

From what I'm seeing Mr. Styl Skinner, you are alienating yourself from the community.

1) You claim to be a professional and then upload "unfinished" or "unprofessional" work. Uploading unfinished work is not very professional at all. This reflects negatively on you.

2) Then you attack a professional group of respected skinners in the community and try to steal their name. Obviously to gain better exposure for your works, after it was explained to you who the name was associated with. This reflects negatively on you.

3) You attack the work of all skinners in one of your recent threads.(thread #29 link #3 Essencay)

Styl you are doing this to yourself. Skindustry is a very nice name. Please don't try to claim that all of this is effecting your skin rating though. You really need to look at yourself and stop trying to blame others, before its too late.

Repair advice: Fix your skin completely, Change your name, and apologize to anyone who you have insulted. This will raise your credibility immediately. And, you will be viewed as nice and humble.

Skinglomerate or Skinsters(The Skin Mob), also sound like good names.

I like cheese

Skintinued
Skinspiracy
Skintagious
Citizen Skin

(If you admit to getting the theme of the above four titles, then you also admit to being old and/or into really bad music)

And for webgizmos..... Skindicheese and Cheddarcate.

Styl, from moment one you was advice to choose/use another name.
You have jumped all the hoops and created more reasons to use the name than reasons to create an original name.
You were told directly and publicly by one of the creators and member of Skindicate NOT to use the name yet the words fell into suborned deaf ears.
You claim to be a 'professional' business person yet you go around ignoring all the rules of the business.
You also claim to be a 'professional' graphic designer yet your website is a mock of someone else’s work.
If this is the 'originality' of the work you offer your 'costumers' then your reputation as an artist really sucks.
For someone that claims so much professionalism, your latest skin and gallery don’t reflect any of that.
On one of your past post you stated that some 'idiot' paid you $400.00 for the template/graphics of your TSF mock-off site. So it raises many doubts about your professionalism and treatment of your 'costumers'
Your gallery doesn’t reflect much of a ‘professional’ artist either. I’ve seen more work and better quality from people that are just starting in this field.
With the standards of WindowBlinds and new features in SkinStudio, that WindowBlind you created for a 'client' company really doesn’t deserves neither royalties nor any high rating.
My advice to you is, follow advices, listen to people when they speak, drop the arrogant attitude and stubbornness, work more on developing your graphic skills but far more important Be ORIGINAL and take credit for what YOU create and not for what other people have done/made.

By the way, you can't "copyright" names.

Yes you can. Microsoft is copyrighted and registered. So is Linux. And Apple. And I think The Skins Factory (and other professional skinning company names) is copyrighted and registered. Point being you can copyright names.

Bullshit. You're confusing trademarks (R and TM) with copyright (C).

See: http://copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html#wnp
on Oct 20, 2004

Registered Trademarks, Kona.....not 'copyright'.

The intent of a Reg'd Trademark is to nominate to whom something becomes Copyrighted....eg.... ©Microsoft .....

on Oct 20, 2004

Now technically the works released by The Skindicate as an entity, eg, Polymer can be seen as ©The Skindicate.

Anything released subsequently by Styl skinner as "Skindicate" is nothing more than a deliberate attempt to cash in on the prior fame and reputation of that which preceded him, as he clearly is aware of both the history and the public opposition to the move.

That is simply not acceptable professional conduct.

Why not use 'Picstudio' or 'A Skins Factory'...how about 'Stardoch'?

Coincidental 'similarity' is one thing, plagiarism is entirely another.

Don't consider doing it if you have even the faintest intention of being professional/successful.

Peer respect means word-of-mouth recommendations/publicity.

Peer disgust means professional suicide.

And for heaven's sake listen to people who have a history in Professional Practise.....I for one have 32 years of it.
